History:  Before Hana was born her father moved to Japan looking for better work, but it was difficult to find jobs he had the right qualifications for and he didn't have the money to go back to school. He dreamed of being a musician, but he never got a break and his dreams became faded over time. He met a beautiful Japanese artist and together they had Gen and Azami. There mother disappeared not long after the birth of the girls and there father was left to look after them on his own. They had a hard life with there father struggling to find stable work and the little girls were a handful to look after. It wasn't uncommon that they would get locked in the apartment by themselves for hours while there father worked. It didn't take long before it was clear though that Hana didn't fit in with the rest of the family. She was a distracted child, her powers frightening whenever they showed up and was interested in books more than drawing, diagrams over pictures. Azami would spend her days dancing around, cleaning up when they could, and making food when they could afford it. She ordered Gen to stack books for her so she could reach the sink. Gen would sit at the window for hours staring at the birds outside trying to compare there flight patterns to her biology books. She was worried when her father joined HOMRA, she didn't like the smell of her fathers cigarettes and she had always been nervous when it came to fire. She saw HOMRA like a family after time, but she didn't belong there and she knew it. It wasn't surprising that when she tried to join she was left with terrible scars across her palm.  

At school she was constantly being bullied for being a freak by all the popular kids, including her sister. It wasn't till there father came home that they would all get together and be a happy family. Her father would play the guitar for them and they would sing all kinds of music together. He would try his best to be both mother and father in a quirky way, but the girls never cared about mothers. They mothered each other when they needed to. Gen was labeled a strain, though she was only considered a level 2 or 3 at the time. After her first training meetings she dreamed of joining the Gold clan when she was older so that she could help people, but she knew it was a silly idea. All her family was HOMRA, it would be betrayal to leave them for an organisation that was blue or gold. Even if she did join she knew she wasn't strong enough for it, she had a lack of willpower, and in terms of morals, she could be swayed back and forth under the right circumstances.

At school Aza only had one or two friends, neither of them people that she talked to that often. It gave her lots of time to focus on her studies, to grow in science and math. She was the top of her class, graduating with honours and getting accepted into a medical school. Around the time of her acceptance her father wanted to help her pay the tuition, not wanting there lower class income to be the reason she couldn't go. He robbed a bank one day, coming to Gen with the cash and telling her he was going away for a long time. Gen opened a portal for him, unsure where exactly it lead and he was gone in a second forever. She never told Azami about anything surrounding it letting her believe that there father had just decided to leave them. After a few weeks of living with the guilt surrounding lying to her sister she disappeared like her father getting her own place and attending school. She excelled and started working at a hospital as a nurse, moving up to the Matrons position after a couple years. In her free time she studied birds, having a strange fascination. When she found Winter she thought she might be able to find a new family there and was happy to join.
